Shanice shares her love for animals

As we celebrate World Animal Day, we take a look at the animal lovers in the area whose animals are more like children.

Shanice Narian is one of those animal lovers.

Shanice has five pets, 2 Jack Russells, 2 Fox Terriers and a rabbit. They are Torres, Maxine, Max, Bugzy and Twinkles.
For Shanice, her animals are more than just pets, they’re family.

“Torres is my son and my best friend. I watched him grow up from 5-weeks-old, so he really means the world to me. He is also a parvovirus survivor, which makes him more special to me. He is naughty but also intelligent.

Maxine has cuddly and fat appearance which makes her the best cuddle teddy bear ever. Max has the most caring, timid and pleasant nature, while Bugzy allows me to take out photos of him without a fuss.”

Her pets are very spoilt too when it comes to the treats they get. They get treats every day, weekend and month end, as well as every birthday, while on Christmas Day, they get something a little extra. They get Beeno treats in the mornings and afternoons, steamed chicken livers and gravy on weekends and KFC Pops every month end. On their birthdays they get cupcakes and milkshake. Twinkles gets strawberries as a treat.

It’s not only their treats that make them special, they also have their own traits.
“Torres has a habit of scratching my pillow in the middle of the night for me to let him sleep under the blanket and cuddle near me. He also bangs the kitchen door with his paws so that I can let him in after he’s done his business outside.

Maxine is very emotional. She loves eating but because of her weight I don’t feed her all day. When she doesn’t get something she wants to eat, she will cry and keeps to herself until I hug her and say I’m sorry.

Max is very caring and protective and always watches over Twinkles, making sure that she does not go out of the yard.

Bugzy is the poser of the group. Twinkles is special because she only has one ear.

Despite already having five pets, Shanice added that she would get more if she could.

“If I could save every abused and abandoned animal I would bring them to live at home with me. Animals love unconditionally. When you have an animal as a pet or when an animal becomes a part of your family, you become their world and they only want care and love.

She also shared a special quote which epitomizes her love for her animals.

“God couldn’t be physically with us so he gave us dogs and notice that Dog spelt backwards is God and they both show unconditional Love.
