First of its kind Cultural pageant at Sibongile location

A total of 12 winners were chosen from different categories and the top 20 winners will enter Miss Cultural SA next year.

Sibongile location was colourful with traditional attire when Mr and Miss Cultural Imbaliyezwe pageant took place in September.

This cultural event was organised by Palesa Zwane (Miss Umzinyathi 2018), in conjunction with Siphuthando Community Organisation. Imbaliyezwe is a programme that grooms young people and teaches them about their cultural background.

“Our theme is ‘my heritage my pride (usikolo lwami ukuzigqaja kwami)’ and as young people, we need to go back to basics,” explained Palesa Zwane.

Rehearsals were held prior to the event where young boys and girls were taught about the Zulu culture and how Zulu maidens behave.

Palesa sent out a heartfelt thank you to the Rotary Club for sponsoring the event, Samukelisiwe Xaba, Siphuthando forum and her parents for making the event a success.

“I hope that we get more sponsors next year as this has turned into an annual event.”
