Newcastle mayor appears in court twice in one day
The mayor of Newcastle has been in court twice today over two separate incidents.
UPDATE: Mayor Mahlaba’s assault charges dismissed
Newcastle Municipality Mayor, Dr Ntuthuko Mahlaba, has appeared in two different courts over two separate incidents today.
Firstly, in the Madadeni Magistrate Court on murder charges linked to a former KZN ANCYL official. Read more about what happened in this court appearance in this week’s Newcastle Advertiser, available Thursday.
After that court appearance, the mayor was allegedly involved in a cattle dispute near Vryheid and is appeared in the Vryheid Magistrate Court on assault charges.
Cameras have not been allowed in court. Defense is not comfortable with photographs being taken.
