Estcourt prison is officially open for business

The wait is over, as the all-new Estcourt Correctional Centre was opened following many delays

At last, after 8 years, the new and improved Estcourt Correctional Centre was officially launched today (May 6).

Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Advocate Michael MP Masutha, and his team had the honour of opening the state-of-the-art prison.

Back in March 2012, the old corrugated iron structured prison was torn apart to accommodate the new structure. The new Correctional Centre is designed for the rehabilitation of male sentenced offenders.

The all-new centre was welcomed by Estcourt, and left delegates and special guests impressed with the advances in prison technology.
