Driver critically injured after collision near Mooi River

The driver of the car sustained critical injuries after he was trapped inside the wreckage

During the early hours of Sunday morning, paramedics were called to the scene of a collision about five kilometres from the Mooi River Toll Plaza.

A car and a truck had collided at 2.51am.

“The driver of the truck escaped injury however the driver of the car sustained critical injuries, the patient was treated on scene by an Advanced Life Support paramedic,” commented Netcare Limited Media Liaison Officer Shawn Herbst.

The driver was entrapped in the vehicle and the Jaws of Life had to be used to free him.

“Due to the nature of the patient’s injuries the Netcare 5 specialised helicopter ambulance was activated to airlift him to hospital,” concluded Mr Herbst.
