Hattingspruit SAPS hosts crime awareness campaign

The event took place at the Milford Sport Grounds, and was envisioned to encourage the youth to be actively involved with sports.

On June 15, Hattingspruit SAPS hosted a sport day which also served as an anti-crime campaign. The event took place at the Milford Sport Grounds, and was envisioned to encourage the youth to be actively involved with sports.

Hattingspruit SAPS, the Community Policing Forum and the Youth Desk partnered with businessmen from the area to host the event. It involved local primary schools and high schools, who competed in soccer, netball and skipping, and boasted a local fan base of over 1 000 people.

Prizes for winners included floating trophies, medals and jerseys. Malambule High School won the boys’ category and Impala High School was 2nd. Of the high school girls, Isiphosemvelo came in 1st place and Emfundweni High School was 2nd. The primary school winners were Hlokomani (1st) and Okhalweni (2nd).

Hattingspruit SAPS, in partnership with community safety and liaison, held another campaign on Monday at the Hattingspruit Sports Grounds. SAPS played against local teams, aiming to improve its partnership with residents.
