Foundation fills the streets with colour and positivity

Black Child Foundation Strategic Planner and Marketing Manager, Sfiso Buthelezi thanked everyone involved.

It was a fun day, filled with colour for the community of Madadeni, as Black Child Foundation (BCF) held its third annual Kasi2Kasi Colour Run and Walk, on June 8, at the Majuba College Stadium in Madadeni.

BCF is a non-profit organisation, which seeks to create a suitable environment to support community development.
Black Child Foundation advisor, Thami Ngubeni, said they were happy to serve the community.

“The Colour Run is our biggest health and sport programme and we always make sure we deliver the best work, where we gather all communities in Newcastle and high schools to be a part of this initiative. We encourage healthy living and an active lifestyle, and the day was filled with sport activities, including aerobics and 6-a-side soccer matches. We are especially happy that this annual event drew over 1 500 people and keeps growing each year.”

Black Child Foundation fundraiser, Zama Magwaza said the organisation had other programmes too.

“We don’t just focus on one thing, but we have other community initiatives that we do, including awareness programmes, where we have open dialogues with young women, teaching them about self-confidence, and guiding them through relationship stages. There’s also the Community Outreach Programme, where we have gone on a Keep Newcastle Clean campaign. We gather the community, and a few primary schools together and pick up all litter in different areas of Madadeni. We also recently partnered with Orange Grove and gave away Amasi to the community of Section 3 in Madadeni.”

Black Child Foundation Strategic Planner and Marketing Manager, Sfiso Buthelezi thanked everyone involved.

“To carry such a task is never easy, you can never please everyone but we are very resilient in the building of our youth and their potential. We are grateful for the support from the community, and nothing would be possible without our sponsors. Thank you to each and everyone of them! We do however need assistance from other potential sponsors, as we are currently not government funded. Every task we take on, will come from our own pockets and a little help from here and there. We need office space and furniture more than anything. We appeal to anyone, big and small businesses, to please help us where you can,” he said.

The day ended with two local soccer teams, Shumaya FC and Hennessy FC, playing a friendly game, which Hennessy FC won 4-2.
