Youth of today march to honour youth of 1976
They held a peaceful march from the top of Murchison Street down to Settlers Drive
Ladysmith youth of 2019 commemorated the heroes of 1976 with a peaceful march from Guinea Fowl / Caltex service station in Murchison Street down to Settlers Drive earlier this week.
In black and white uniforms, they attracted lots of attention as they walked down the main street on Tuesday (June 18). Public Safety officers monitored traffic and ensured that the marchers were safe all the way down to Settlers Drive, where struggle songs were enthusiastically sung.
On seeing the procession, other curious young people also joined in.
The march was organised in respect of the brave youth of 1976 (Soweto Uprising).
