A huge crowd of bystanders gathered to watch a patient being airlifted from Ladysmith on Saturday, June 16. The helicopter landed on the Ladysmith High School (LHS) sports field that morning.

Local ambulance services assisted Netcare 911 medical staff, who took the man by chopper.

The patient was transferred to a hospital in Pietermaritzburg.
