Spur puts charity on the table

"As managers, we must lead by example," smiled Khulekani, as he dipped his roller in the tray of paint and transformed the exterior of the academy's ablution block.

Mandela Day 2019 saw many Vryheid residents reaching out to others, to spread Madiba magic in commemoration of the late former state president.

Lungelo Khumalo, from the hardware store which sponsored the paint, lends a hand.

In Vryheid, Vusi Ndaba and his team from Golden Peak Spur arrived at Risen Son Academy on Thursday morning with paint and rollers in hand, ready to paint one of the buildings in the school grounds as their tribute to Nelson Mandela’s ongoing legacy.

Vusi explained the academy was chosen as the beneficiary, because he loved what it did for future generations.
Those who know Vusi know he has a special place in his heart for children, and along with members of Spur management, Spha Khumalo and Khulekani Mazibuko, as well as Lungelo Khumalo from a local hardware store, donned an apron and got to work with a fresh coat of paint.

Spur’s Spha Khumalo paints the edges of the window frames.

“As managers, we must lead by example,” smiled Khulekani, as he dipped his roller in the tray of paint and transformed the exterior of the academy’s ablution block.

Khulekani Mazibuko perches himself on the windowsill, to reach the top of the wall.

Henrietta Barry, Principal of Risen Son Academy, said, “We really appreciate their support and heart for the community and us as a school.”
