Blood donors honoured for milestone donations

Guests were treated to a three-course meal, and could enjoy the afternoon with those special people

A ‘prestige afternoon’ was held for all local milestone blood donors and contacts on Saturday.
This event was organised by South African National Blood Service (SANBS) Donor Relations Practitioner, Shavani Sewpaul, and medals were presented to those who achieved a milestone as donors of blood or blood products.
Guests were treated to a three-course meal, and could enjoy the afternoon with those special people who selflessly donate their time and blood on a regular basis.
Sewpaul commended the Vryheid Herald for its involvement in the blood drives, noting a positive increase in the donations coming from Vryheid.
She also thanked contacts and donors for their involvement with SANBS.
The following people received medals for blood donation milestones:
50: Musa Mkhwanazi, Amanda Vergottini, Adele Richter and Riana Hastings.
100: Sue Dewar and Antoinette Potgieter.
125: Louis le Roux.
150: Frans van Niekerk and Barend van Jaarsveld.
200: Hermanus Jordaan.
