Business owners clean up after nights of drunken partying

The resident described part of Alexandra Street as being in a "terrible state"

Some Alexandra Street business owners have a messy start to their day. Before they even open up shop, they are confronted by the aftermath of a night of drinking.

“Alcohol is consumed through the night and people urinate on the pavements and street,” said one resident who declined to be named.

The resident described part of Alexandra Street as being in a “terrible state”.

“When we come to open our business in the morning, we have to stop, jump off the vehicle and remove the bottles so that we can park in the allocated parking bays. When we jump off, we have to block our noses because the stink of urine is enough to make anyone want to run. However, we have no choice but to take our hosepipe, pay for the water and wash the pavement so that we can carry on with the day of business,” explained the resident.

By highlighting this concern in the Estcourt News, the resident hopes that municipal authorities, business owners, as well as patrons will take note and remedy the ongoing distress that is being felt.
