Much-loved policeman is transferred from Dundee

He is on his way to Mountain Rise police station in Pietermaritzburg after being promoted to Captain

One of Dundee’s most affable men in blue, Warrant Officer Dumisani Daniel Skosana, is on his way to Mountain Rise police station in Pietermaritzburg after being promoted to Captain.

Glowing tributes were paid to the always-smiling Dumisani by his colleagues who said he would be dearly missed in Dundee.

Captain Skosana (49) completed his matric in Osizweni, Newcastle, and in 1990 completed a Diploma in Labour Relations Management. His police career kicked off in 1991 in Ulundi and was later transferred to Nquthu where he worked until 2012.

It was in that year that he came to Dundee and made his mark as a Community Police Forum co-ordinating officer and was very involved with community awareness programmes in urban and rural areas.

He is a man known to be dedicated to the community he serves and also liaised with the Courier to ensure the success of many youth orientated programmes highlighting the dangers of drug and substance abuse.

Hlengiwe Sithole, Community Police Forum chairperson, said Captain Skosana was ‘always the perfect gentleman with whom the Forum had shared many good memories over the past six years they had worked with him.’

“We wish him well on his next adventure. He is that kind of person who will always make a success as he is very positive. We are sure he will have many good memories of Dundee.”

Colonlel R Nyide wished Captain Skosana ‘bon voyage’ and thanked him for his hard work while serving in Dundee.

For his part, Captain Skosana thanked police management for the support and their kind words. “Dundee has also been supportive of me. I look forward to my post in Pietermaritzburg where I will be a sector commander but Dundee will always remain close to my heart.”
