Dagga instead of a corpse

Not convinced, the officers searched the vehicle.

Two suspects are behind bars after dagga was found heading to its ‘final destination’ in a coffin.
Police were conducting a roadblock on the N2 freeway on Saturday night when they noticed that an approaching vehicle had stopped and switched off its lights a short distance away from them. When officers approached the vehicle and asked for a travel permit, the two occupants informed them that they were employed at a funeral parlour and were transporting a corpse. The men produced all the correct documentation.
Not convinced, the officers searched the vehicle. Their suspicions were confirmed when, instead of a corpse, 30 bags of dagga were found inside the coffin. The dagga weighed in at about 80 kilograms.
The suspects were arrested and taken to Pongola police station, where they were charged for possession of dagga.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula, commended the police officers on their alertness and persistence in maintaining law and order, which led to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of the drugs.
