“Social distancing is crucial” says uThukela deputy mayor

Community members, in turn, voiced their grievances about not receiving their social grants on time

uThukela Deputy Mayor Nombali Mchunu preached the importance of social distancing during a Covid-19 screening programme in Ward 2, ePotshini, on Tuesday (May 5).

The District Command Council (DCC) – led by the uThukela deputy mayor and Dr Zulu from the Department of Health – worked jointly with the Okhahlamba Local Command Council (LCC) during the screening.

As the programme kicked off, Deputy Mayor Mchunu wasted no time in telling everyone present that it is of utmost importance to adhere to the social distancing regulation, as it is easy for the coronavirus (Covid-19) to be passed from one person to the next through small droplets in the air.

She further urged community members in ePotshini to avoid touching their nose and mouth, as the virus can be transmitted on contact.
