Transnet Pipelines were hit yesterday afternoon (October 26) by a theft incident near Ladysmith.
It is believed that people were trying to steal diesel from the multi-product pipeline which transports fuel from Durban to Gauteng.
Most of the diesel, which was spraying out of the pipeline, landed in a farmer’s property, with just a light spray going onto the N3. The spray of diesel did not affect the N3 in any way.
A team from Spilltech, as well as N3TC officials and the Ladysmith Fire Department, responded to the scene to begin clean-up operations.
