Remembrance Day parade marks centenary of historic war memorial
The Lych Gate was consecrated in 1022 and is dedicated to all soldiers who died during service during the First Word War 1914 to 1919.
Moths from Newcastle and Dundee and other service organisations laid wreaths on Sunday morning to mark Remembrance Day and commemorate the 100th anniversary of the historic Lych Gate at the old town cemetery.
The Lych Gate was consecrated in 1022 and is dedicated to all soldiers who died during service during the First Word War 1914 to 1919.
There are names of 30 locals who died and their names are inscribed on the inside panels.
Braving persistent rain, Moths from Monte Stanco Shellhole in Newcastle and Endumeni Isandlwana (Dundee), held a parade at the Lych Gate, accompanied by Mothwa (Member of the Tin Hats Women’s Auxiliary members), Boy Scouts and Cubs, former Commando members, members of the medical corps and Dundee Die Hards.
