Local pub goes green for St Paddy

Green dyed beer flowed as local musicians, Angus Burns, Chris Palframan and Ian Bland entertained with live renditions of famous rock, soul and country favourites.

Staff and patrons alike brought out all things green in a celebration of Irish culture on Saturday, March 16.

As the sultry autumn afternoon gave way to a balmy evening, families and friends dressed in green clothing and accessories traditionally associated with St Patrick’s Day, gathered at The Pint for an evening of fun, laughter and hearty food.

Tables were set up outdoors to accommodate the large turnout.

Green dyed beer flowed as local musicians, Angus Burns, Chris Palframan and Ian Bland entertained with live renditions of famous rock, soul and country favourites, which had the crowd singing and dancing along.

St Patricks Day, also referred to as the Feast of Saint Patrick, is traditionally celebrated on March 17, the death date of the Irish patron saint.

Legend has it that Patrick stood on an Irish hillside and delivered a sermon that drove the island’s snakes into the sea.

On Saint Patrick’s Day, it is customary to wear shamrocks, green clothing or green accessories as Saint Patrick is said to have used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish.
