Local self-taught writer publishes first children’s book
Growing up, she used to be nervous when asked to read and this resulted in her stuttering most of the time. However, she found comfort in writing after becoming a mother

Passionate, self-taught author Sibongakuye Nala from Glencoe has written a children’s book which has now been published.
Her book, ‘A New Era With Robots’, focuses on the fourth industrial revolution, which is more than just technology-driven change. “I recently noticed the evolution of the fourth industrial revolution in robotics and how they have become a source of convenience,” explained Sibongakuye. She added that she has written all about this in a child-friendly way and hopes that children will find interest in robots even though they stay in rural-urban areas such as Glencoe. Sibongakuye explained that she chose this genre because she knows that children are the future. “The sooner they learn, the better our country can be and the society we live in,” she said. Asked if she always dreamed of writing a book, Sibongakuye said that writing was far from her dream. Growing up, she used to be nervous when asked to read and this resulted in her stuttering most of the time. However, she found comfort in writing after becoming a mother, from which she drew inspiration when she started writing in 2015.
Her first book is entitled ‘Past Memories to my Child’, which is a non-fiction book based on her life.
She concluded by saying that she has learned that everyone has a story to tell, but it is just a matter of starting.
