Dannhauser residents fume over random dumping
Further investigation revealed that an attempt had been made to cover the bundles of unwrapped pamphlets with sand.

The dumping of thousands of bundles of retail pamphlets in Dannhauser has angered local residents.
The pamphlets were first seen last year next to and in a river in the Normandien/Dannhauser area, which caused farmers consternation in fear that their livestock would consume the paper and choke.
The piles of pamphlets were discovered over the past few weeks in an area near the Dannhauser landfill site, between Durnacol and Dannhauser village.
One resident, who preferred not to be named, said she had tried to track down the source of the dumping and found that a distribution company in Newcastle had hired local contractors to pick up and deliver the pamphlets.
However, the pamphlets never reached their intended destinations and were simply dumped in Dannhauser.
“We have so much drama with our water supply here (in Dannhauser) and other environmental issues like sewage running in our rivers. Now we are faced with intentional dumping too. Some supermarkets will never receive these pamphlets, which are now lying here,” the resident said.
Further investigation revealed that an attempt had been made to cover the bundles of unwrapped pamphlets with sand.
The Courier contacted supermarkets in the area, but none reported any missing pamphlets.
A delivery note on one of the unwrapped bundles indicated that the destination was a supermarket in Winterton.
However, they are now littering Dannhauser instead.
