New Dundee Rotary president after ‘magical’ year

The Rotary Club of Dundee wrapped up a "magical" term with a successful Winter Warmth Bowls fundraiser and welcomed incoming president Michele du Plessis at the club's induction dinner.

The Rotary Club of Dundee recently concluded a successful term under past president Anita da Silva with the lively Winter Warmth Bowls Tournament. This fundraising initiative ran over four weeks. The event wrapped up a Rotary year described by members as nothing short of ‘magical’.
Incoming president Michele du Plessis has now officially taken the reins, ushering in the new Rotary year with a relaxed yet formal dinner – a cherished tradition within the club.

Known for her dedication and compassion, Du Plessis is expected to lead the club with the same efficiency and heart that have defined her Rotary journey.
This year also marks a significant change on a global scale, as Rotary International has opted to discontinue the tradition of annual themes.
The final theme, ‘MAGIC’, was fitting for the memorable and impactful year experienced by Dundee Rotarians.

True to Rotary’s mission of ‘Service Above Self’, local members continue to run various community upliftment projects. These include monthly food donations to the Siphuthando Care Centre, the popular Oldies Day, a Dental Care initiative, and several other programmes that have a great impact in the community.
In addition, the Rotary Club has committed to addressing the pressing issue of climate change, further expanding its service to include environmental awareness and sustainability.
With new leadership in place and a continued passion for community service, the Rotary Club of Dundee is set for another inspiring year of making a difference.
