uMzinyathi appoints Ntanzi as municipal manager to tackle water challenges

Ntanzi takes helm at uMzinyathi and vows to address water shortages and restore municipal stability

uMzinyathi District Municipality has appointed a new municipal manager following a special council sitting held last week.

Mr MV Ntanzi has been confirmed in the position after serving in an acting capacity following the departure of his predecessor.

Focus on restoring service delivery

Ntanzi is no stranger to the municipality, having previously served as head of department for corporate services. He has also held similar roles at Dannhauser and Msinga municipalities.

Speaking after his appointment, Ntanzi acknowledged the challenges facing the district, particularly ongoing water shortages.

“As a resident of the district, I understand the seriousness of water issues in our communities. I am committed to restoring the municipality’s reputation and ensuring reliable access to water,” he said.

He added that he has confidence in the municipal leadership team.

“I have full confidence in the heads of department and managers I am working with. Together, we will move the municipality forward,” said Ntanzi.

Mayor Thembisile Mchunu welcomed the appointment and expressed confidence in Ntanzi’s leadership.

She said he had already demonstrated strong capability during his time as acting municipal manager and urged municipal staff to support him in his new role.
