Support fund-raising market for Sherillyn

You can expect a host of exciting activities

Estcourtonians are known to stand together during times of need; just like Sherlene Gericke is determined to play her part in helping a childhood friend.

Sherillyn Dumas (42), a former Estcourt resident, is suffering from a life-threatening illness, namely cystic fibrosis (CF). CF is an inherited disorder that causes severe damage to the lungs, digestive system and other organs in the body.

Most CF sufferers do not live a full life and require special care, as well as medication. At some point in their journey, their lungs will become too weak to absorb enough oxygen to survive.

Sherillyn requires a life[1]saving but costly treatment called TRIXACAR, which is available in Argentina. The family has embarked on a massive fund-raising mission to raise the required R350,000.

To contribute towards Sherillyn’s cause, Sherlene is hosting the Sherillyn Dumas Fund-Raising Market on April 22. She hopes to attract enough stall holders and shoppers to raise a minimum of R10,000.

Sherlene also has other fund[1]raising initiatives going, which includes collection tins, a raffle, as well as a planned Movie Day. The Sherillyn Dumas Fund-Raising Market will be held at the Estcourt Methodist Church from 09:00 until 14:00.

You can expect a host of exciting activities, as well as interesting stalls, plus a Kids Zone, tea garden, food to tantalize all taste buds, and novelty items.

“Sherillyn and I have been friends since school. We played hockey together and I did the candles for her wedding. “We have remained friends through the years, so I want to help because she is a very kind and special person,” said Sherlene.
