Business spreads Christmas cheer
Through its 'Heart of Christmas' campaign, Newcastle's Pam Golding team sought to imbue the festive season with the true gifts of Christmas …the spirit of giving and the joy of putting a smile on someone's face.
The team invited the community to contribute a non-perishable food item or toy on Friday, December 6, in return for having a photo taken with Santa.
The Pam Golding offices were transformed into a magical wonderland with twinkling lights and Christmas themed décor for the occasion.
Samantha Wade of Pam Golding said the company puts time and effort into its corporate social investment every December, and has hosted successful soup kitchens and hospital toy runs in the past.
“This year, we noticed that there are not a lot of people doing Christmas lights anymore and the people who used to do it have left town, so we decided to bring some Christmas cheer to town and also invite the community to get involved by bringing a food item or toy that we can pass on,” Wade explained.
“Seeing how well-supported Friday’s event was, it is very clear that people are looking for places to go out and experience some Christmas cheer.”
According to Wade, two large collection boxes were filled with non-perishable food items that will be donated to schools that provide feeding schemes, R6 500 was raised in cash donations before the event even began, and more than 70 children had a photo taken with Santa.
These photos will be printed and handed to the parents of the children free of charge as a memento of gratitude for contributing to a good cause.
“We’re hoping to make this an even bigger and better event next year,” Wade concluded.
