uThukela and Transnet team up to donate school shoes
The event benefited more than 150 learners at three primary schools.
uThukela District Municipality, in collaboration with the Transnet Foundation, extended the ‘Shoes on Feet’ campaign under Alfred Duma Local Municipality, bringing much-needed support to young learners.
Through this initiative, 150 pairs of school shoes were recently distributed to three schools, namely Blue Bank Primary, Vukuzikhethele Primary and Sandriver Valley Primary.
The ‘Shoes on Feet’ campaign, an initiative of the Transnet Foundation, aims to eliminate barriers to education by providing learners with essential school footwear. By ensuring that children have proper shoes, the programme helps to restore dignity, boost confidence, and create an environment where learners can focus on their studies without facing the challenge of inadequate attire.

We deeply appreciate Transnet’s support in helping these learners access education without any obstacles,” said Shabalala.
