Truck catches fire on N3 near Wembezi off-ramp

The exact cause of the fire is not known at this stage.

A truck caught fire on Tuesday (May 6) near the Wembezi off-ramp on the N3 highway heading towards Johannesburg. The incident caused significant traffic disruptions as thick smoke and flames engulfed the vehicle.

According to the driver, he was returning from Howick after delivering a load of newly-hatched chicks from the North West Province.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire.

Emergency response teams rushed to the scene and traffic police controlled the flow of vehicles. N3 Toll Concession (N3TC) arrived with a water tanker, while local towing services and municipal firefighters worked together to extinguish the blaze and clear the area.
