Vryheid’s Lindsay Steele nails Quick Quiz for big prize

Lindsay Steele wins R40,000 on East Coast Radio’s quiz with confidence and faith.

Local lass Lindsay Steele is not only a seasoned bowler, but also has a knack for quizzes it seems.
Every day, one listener gets the opportunity to play ‘Darren Maule’s Quick Quiz’ on East Coast Radio, where contestants have to answer five questions in 30 seconds. On Wednesday morning (July 9) last week, the quiz reached one of the highest amounts of the year – R40,000! The questions are based on general knowledge that is trending in the news or currently happening in the world.
Lindsay took the chance to compete and nailed it, walking away with the grand prize!
Lindsay is overwhelmed with excitement and told the Vryheid Herald that she is still in total shock and can’t believe she won. She answered all the questions confidently, but when Darren sneakily asked her whether she was certain about one of her answers, she started to doubt herself. However, she stuck to her initial answer, which was the right thing to do.
Even though she beamed with confidence during the quiz, this was the first time she had ever competed in this kind of competition. Asked about her strategy, Lindsay said, “I prayed to God and handed the questions over to Him, asking Him to guide me through it in the way He saw fit. All the glory to Him!” Lindsay says her family plays a lot of quiz games during the December holidays, where the men compete against the women. The women win nine out of 10 times, she laughs.
With the whopping R40,000 she won, she wants to settle her debt and spoil her family. Lindsay prepared herself for the quiz by keeping herself in the loop with the news and what is trending, and says that social media helped a lot with that. Would she take on the Breakfast Quiz again? “Of course yes. It was a LOT of fun!”
Congratulations, Lindsay – you kept Vryheid’s name high in the ‘brainy’ division…
