Past pupils come back to help their former school
The alumni vowed to help matriculants by paying their registration fees at universities.
Former learners of Sizathina Secondary School in Loskop officially launched the Sizathina Secondary School Alumni on Friday (August 8). The heartwarming event was attended by past and current pupils, former and current teachers, and the School Governing Body.
The day was filled with joy and nostalgia as old friends reunited, sharing memories and laughter. The programme featured prayers, motivational speeches and musical performances by current learners. The alumni also came bearing gifts, donating 35 school jerseys to struggling learners. The alumni also paid their respects to the founder and first principal of Sizathina Secondary School, Mr Leon Ndlovu.
Alumni committee chairperson Sthombe Cynthia Mnguni told how the initiative began. She explained that it started as a gathering of former female learners, later expanding to include teachers and male alumni. “In March, we agreed that everyone should find a sponsor who could contribute. Our sponsor, Bishop Francis Mazibuko, helped us secure 33 pairs of school shoes and we also contributed 35 school jerseys,” she said.

Mnguni stressed their commitment to uplifting learners. “We don’t want to see any child without shoes or a uniform. Our biggest mission is to ensure that no Sizathina Secondary learner who passes matric is unable to attend university due to lack of funds. We plan to assist by paying their registration fees,” she added.
