MEC Hlomuka visits Ezakheni and Ekukhuleni schools

Schools officially open on Wednesday, January 14.

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Education Sipho Hlomuka visited Ezakheni High School and Ekukhuleni Secondary School today (January 7).

This comes after these local schools opted to open a week earlier. The Grade 12s returned as teaching and learning commenced for the new year.

Hlomuka officially welcomed the educators and learners, and applauded them for their early return as the ‘Class of 2026’.

The visit started at Ezakheni High School, where the MEC was received by uThukela District Director Ms Mapaseka Mokoena, together with senior officials from the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education.

Both schools outlined their status and passed on their requests to the MEC.

Hlomuka committed to address the issues affecting schools in and around Ezakheni, including infrastructure challenges and also governance issues at schools such as Qophindlela Secondary School.
