Dundee resident warns homeowners to be vigilant

A Dundee resident warns homeowners to stay vigilant after an alleged during which she was robbed during a property viewing.

A resident of Cornhill Street has issued a warning to homeowners in Dundee after she was robbed of her jewellery by a couple allegedly posing as prospective buyers.

According to the resident, who preferred not to be named, the pair (a well-dressed man and woman) approached her and asked if the home was for sale, and if so, could she view it. During the visit, the woman reportedly asked to use the bathroom, after which some of the jewellery that had been stored in a bedroom was allegedly discovered missing.

The resident has urged members of the public to exercise caution when allowing unknown individuals into their homes.

Homeowners are advised to:

Verify the identity of prospective buyers.

Arrange viewings through registered estate agents where possible.

Avoid allowing strangers unsupervised access inside their homes.

Report any suspicious behaviour to the South African Police Service immediately.

Police have not yet released an official statement regarding the matter. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and to share safety information responsibly.
