Vidima secures first win as milestones and personal bests mark parkrun.

Phumlani Vidima claimed his first-ever top finish at the Vryheid parkrun on Saturday, crossing the line in first place in a breakthrough performance.

In the women’s category, Ntando Ndlovu once again secured the top spot, continuing her strong form at the weekly event.

Newcomers join the parkrun community

The run also welcomed several first-time participants, including a few who joined spontaneously after seeing the gathering. Organisers said some of these newcomers have since registered and are expected to become regular participants.

Personal bests highlight competitive field

A total of 14 runners recorded personal best times on Saturday, reflecting the growing competitiveness and enthusiasm within the local parkrun community. Congratulations went to Dwayne, Malusi, Nkanyiso, Mthandeni, Zander, Leonardo, Joanné, Zar, Carladine, Nompilo, Brigit, Werner, Lydia and Surina.

Milestones celebrated by participants

Milestones were another highlight of the morning. Prudence Nkosi celebrated her 50th parkrun, earning recognition as part of the official milestone club.

In addition, Daan Kotze marked an unofficial but significant personal achievement, completing his 300th parkrun.
