Zani Wagner excels in athletics

Term 1 was fruitful for VHS on the sports field

Zani Wagner has continuously triumphed on the athletics field, demonstrating great talent. Zani has broken long-standing records in athletics at Vryheid High School (VHS). In the VHS annual athletics meeting, Zani set a new record of 35.55m for javelin and 10.54m for shot put. She was recently placed first in the U/15 girls’ javelin event at the KZN Provincial T&F Championships. VHS wishes to congratulate Zani for her outstanding achievement in athletics. Zani’s dedication, hard work and perseverance is a great inspiration for all the other learners.

VHS sport against Ladysmith High School

On Saturday, VHS played its second winter sport game against Ladysmith High School (LHS). It was pleasing to witness so much hard work and devotion from our learners. In the 18 games that were played (rugby, netball, hockey and chess), VHS won 12 games and lost six.
The results are as follows:
Rugby: U/14 won 29-0, U/15 won 12-0, U/16 won 45-10, second team won 29-0, and first team won 15-5.
Netball: U/14 A lost 12-15, U/14 B lost 9-7, U/15 A won 18-8, U/15 B won 9-1, U/16 A 15-12, second team 17-6, and first team won 22-18.
Hockey: U/14 boys lost 1-2, U/16 boys won 5-1, second team boys lost 0-4, first team boys lost 0-2, and first team girls won 6-1.
Term 1 was fruitful for VHS on the sports field. We look forward to term 2 and we anticipate more success in the upcoming term.
