‘Please don’t chain me!’

I need to be able to run around, play, sniff and explore – normal dog behaviour!

“Having to eat, sleep and live everyday in a small confined area makes me miserable, frustrated and stressed.

It can also make me aggressive towards you – no one wants to be kept in prison when they haven’t done anything wrong.

It hurts when the collar rubs my neck raw – especially if you don’t treat the wound. Flies lay eggs in the open wound and soon there’ll be maggots crawling in there. Imagine seeing this on your body!

If another dog comes to fight with me, I can’t protect myself.

If the chain gets tangled, I could choke or strangle myself.

I could get heat stroke in summer or pneumonia from cold, wet weather.

I could suffer from constipation or weak muscles from lack of exercise.

Stress from living everyday at the end of a short chain can make my skin itch and my fur fall out.

I need to be able to run around, play, sniff and explore – normal dog behaviour!”
