* The very first time the school was affected by flood waters was on March 16, 1925. Water stayed at a height of two and a half feet (about 60cm) for more than two days. The school was flooded again on March 21, 1925, and remained closed until April 6, 1925.

* The school’s library was opened for the first time on April 13, 1927.

* In January 1928, the primary school in Putnispruit opened its doors. It became a feeder school to Windsor.

* Afrikaans was introduced for the first time as a subject of instruction on March 7, 1939.

* Free milk used to be delivered to school every day for distribution to pupils. On October 9, 1939, the quantity was increased from eight gallons to 16 gallons (+/- 80 litres).

* On November 11, 1940: Mr M Thomas, the headmaster, was absent from duty because of a gunshot wound to the head. He took sick leave up to December 31, 1940. On the same day, a teacher, Mr B Goordeen, was arrested for attempted murder. A report of this incident appeared in the Natal Witness of November 13, 1940.

* The first Standard 7 class opened on January 27, 1941.

* The first Standard 8 class opened on January 26, 1942.

* For the first time, free meals were supplied at the school from February 3, 1944, at a cost of 175 pounds. The Free Meals Supply Scheme Committee was made up of: Messrs M Thomas (principal), chairman Mr AC Naidoo, secretary and treasurer IA Moola, HR Singh, V Lalla, R Kallie, MN Pillay, EI Vawda and EM Seedat.

* Mr CM Nair commenced duty on January 29, 1946.

* On February 4, 1946, Mr M Perumal assumed duties as principal.

* The school was closed on March 13 and 14, 1947, in honour of the visit to Ladysmith of King George VI, Queen Elizabeth, and Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret.

* On April 14, 1947, the four houses in memory of Madame Curie, Jagadis C Bose, Lord Lister and CV Raman were introduced for the very first time to students.

* On June 3, 1947, the first school plays and variety concert were staged at the Athlone theatre.

* On October 3, 1947, Mr M Perumal was transferred to the Tongaat Boys’ School.

* On October 14, 1947, Mr MM Subban assumed duty as principal.

* Mr NG Chetty was promoted from the Depot Road School to take up principalship on January 21, 1952. On that day, the staff comprised Miss NT Maharaj, Messrs G Ramsamy (vice-principal), B Pachai, MK Nathan, B Naidoo, SL Sewgolam, PR Daniel, BM Pillay, G Cheddie, P Narrandes, JR Singh, RR Naicker, EO Khan, S Kallichurum, SM Chetty, AM Manjoo and IM Mulla (newly-appointed).

* On September 1, 1953, Mr R Narrandes, a teacher, was granted leave to accompany the Northern Natal soccer team to the Sam China tournament in Johannesburg. He was the team manager.

* The sewerage system was installed at the school on February 17, 1954.

* On February 22, 1954, the first Platoon classes commenced, with two classes of 90 pupils.

* Mr AC Naidoo was promoted to vice-principal on July 26, 1955. On the same day, living quarters for five caretakers were completed.
