Five Cent Piece – Truth be told

You know them…the liars, the manipulators. The men and women who take it upon themselves to walk over others to get what they think they need.

Commentary by Kyle Cowan

They wield sharp tongues, sharpened to a sickening edge from years of practice.

The honey drips from their lips as they strike words and gestures down to do their bidding to get what they want.

You know them…the liars, the manipulators. The men and women who take it upon themselves to walk over others to get what they think they need.

Their power-hungry eyes bore into your soul. They have come to take from you, steal from you, smiling and daring. Yet they remain a constant.

Wherever you go, being shunned is a possibility. Being lied to is a possibility, but we accept this as part of life. Honesty is a rare skill, nurtured and grown, honed to perfection of diplomacy and tact.

However, truth is stranger than fiction, and this is never more apparent reading the headlines from across the globe, or even in our little town.

You want to fight the good fight and be a martyr of honesty. Yet you will not hesitate to lie to keep yourself or your loved ones safe. Human nature demands it.

They push and pull, the cunning manipulators of reality. Obstacles are around every bend. We face the dawn with appreciation and anticipation, day after day. Yet we know the difficult part is yet to come.

Let’s be totally honest for a day. Say what you need to say but don’t break the barriers of reasonable thinking. In other words, stop lying, and start making a difference.
