Rainbow nation should support each other

I am proud to be a Hindu because during this festival no alcohol or drugs are consumed in the name of Diwali

Editor
My dear ‘Dispirited Resident’ (Estcourt News, November 7, page 6 – Resident wants fireworks banned), your introduction “Diwali – festival of lights, how are fireworks in this?” sir/madam, if you are so aggrieved by other cultures and are true to yourself, why don’t you write your name, so that you can be contacted and your grievances can be attended to?

I feel that only hypocrites and mischief-makers hide behind a pen name in our wonderful newspaper. I am proud to be a Hindu because during this festival no alcohol or drugs are consumed in the name of Diwali. Therefore, looking at the positive side of things, Diwali was celebrated with the very high discipline it deserves.

It’s a pity that your dog was traumatised. If you loved your dog as much as your child, you would’ve taken care of him/her instead of writing a letter in the paper, with no name published. Sir/madam, if you are sincere, you should disclose your name, don’t be afraid of the truth.

If you would like any more information, please contact the Estcourt News to get my contact details.
We are a rainbow nation, therefore we should support each other in any way, it does not matter which culture you belong to. Sir/madam, what you should be contemplating is how to get our youth out of drugs and alcohol abuse.
