‘Cat’ astrophe – Sordid Drug Trade

"What's that smell Emily?" Her reply enlightened me - "dagga ma'm". I never believed her until one day I saw a youngster with very bloodshot eyes reading our local paper - upside down!

Madam – ‘Cat’ astrophe – Sordid Drug Trade.

I was born and bred in our town, Newcastle. I am a smoker. When I buy a box of cigarettes, I am warned of health dangers, displayed on the box. It’s my choice to smoke or not.

During, and up to five years ago, I had youngsters living with me (I live alone). I smelled a strange smell (not cigarette smell) around. I had no doubt it was a dagga smell. One day I asked my faithful maid, “What’s that smell Emily?”

Her reply enlightened me – “dagga ma’m”. I never believed her until one day I saw a youngster with very bloodshot eyes reading our local paper – upside down! On confronting the teenager, who confessed, I asked them to leave and stop destroying their lives.

Now, thanks to our media and Captain Magudulela, I read about “CAT”. In my lifetime a cat was a four legged feline domestic pet. I thank the drug squad and our media for good work. Well done chaps!!

To all the fans of “cat”, please think of your future, our town and country.

Sincerely, your Granny
