Ratepayers before voters?

We have been suffering from water shortages since 1994 or before that

Editor – Please pass my deepest sadness to our uThukela Municipality, because it seems as if they are more concerned about the so-called ratepayers and we people who live in rural areas are not on their list of worries when it comes to supplying water to such areas.

We have been suffering from water shortages since 1994 or before that.

This is a problem we live with day-in and day-out, but when elections come, we will be promised that we will get roads, water, etc, only to find that it’s the last time we hear from them because it’s only election canvassing.

Can our officials please hear us now, as we are people of South Africa as well. We need water and better roads (in fact, all kinds of development they might think of). They mustn’t forget about those small group of people living in rural areas, because we make a difference. They used to say: “If you think you are too small to make a difference, try to sleep with a mosquito”.
