Fix potholes properly, please

Please come and fix up the potholes in Rawlinson Street and do it right!

Editor – What is it about workmanship in this town that doesn’t get done right the first time?

We’re always hearing about uThukela workers having to return to fix a burst pipe that just springs a leak all over again.

Well, the same can be said about some of the roads in town that develop potholes, are fixed by local municipal workers and are soon in a shoddy state of disrepair again.

I wrote a letter a while back about the atrocious state of Rawlinson Street with regards to potholes. Municipal workers came and did their thing and everything was hunky-dory, but not for long. The local municipality must have done a superficial job at best, because all the filling and patching has come up. It looks terrible again and cars have to make a wide berth just below the blind rise when coming out of Ava Lane. Now the work needs to be done all over again.

And one has to complain in the newspaper before anything gets done in the first place. Is it just me or does the word “frustrating” come to mind when dealing with our town’s municipality?

Please come and fix up the potholes in Rawlinson Street and do it right!
