Shocking water wastage

It is unfair that residents should be tightening their belts, trying to save water, when the authorities themselves don't care about it

I refer to your front page article ‘Criminal’ water wastage in last week’s Estcourt News.

It is shocking and very disappointing to see that Uthukela District Municipality fails to attend to complaints like these and yet slap us with a water restriction notice.

Every week we see and read about water and sewage leaks that are left running for days. Some are left for weeks, months and possibly years.

And as the resident so rightly pointed out last week, it is a waste of airtime to call the customer care centre as you’re often left more exasperated than before.

In these times of drought, it is the collective responsibility of each and every one of us to try and save water, this applies to Uthukela too.
