Disgusted with park over holidays

Vulgar language filled the air and empty beer bottles were thrown everywhere

Editor – I was disgusted and furious when I saw the state of Wimpy Park over the December holidays.

The park was filled to capacity with drunk people and there was no parking.

I took my family so that my children could enjoy the play area, but I was astonished when I saw the state of the park – I was blocked in with drunk drivers. Where is the sense of having a park when only drunk people are always hanging out?

Vulgar language filled the air and empty beer bottles were thrown everywhere. It was a filthy mess.

I was also embarrassed knowing that people from different towns were in Ladysmith and had to witness this sight. There were no police or traffic officers there, which made it more unsafe for us, the elderly. And the parties carried on till late at night.

Isn’t there a time at which the park opens and closes? I hope the municipality open their eyes, consider this situation and do something about it. And to top it off, I was stuck behind 10 vehicles waiting to get the hell out of there.

To add to my woes, there was a huge fight that took place where the braai area is. Ladies were swearing at each other and children were standing and looking on. Isn’t a park supposed to be a place of safety and relaxation? If so, then this is not what’s happening in our town. In conclusion, I would really be pleased if this situation changed soon. The park should not stay open all night long and the municipality should provide security so that it is safe.
