SAPS wastes resources

Our town is a den of thievery, muggings, rapes, murder. Can't they spend their time solving these crimes instead of running around after the people who use dagga?

While reading the Estcourt News, I was really distressed about the time and resources that are wasted by the South African Police Services (SAPS) running around and arresting anyone and everyone in possession of dagga.

Did you know that cannabis has been used for thousands of years as a medicine, and is a lifesaving herb used for cancer, asthma, pain control, Parkinson’s and many other illnesses?

I refer to the article “Arrests for dagga possession” (Estcourt News, January 8, page 3) where they arrested someone for being in possession of a few grams of dagga. Really? Have they not got better things to do with their time?

Our town is a den of thievery, muggings, rapes, murder. Can’t they spend their time solving these crimes instead of running around after the people who use dagga? Really, come on! We live in the 21st century; we must change our attitude about these things.
