Madam – With regards to my open complaint letter to ABSA, published last week.
In all fairness, I can confirm what Mr Van Zyl said in his reply, in that I received two calls from senior ABSA officials in Jo’burg.
They were both very pleasant and productive conversations.
Following the calls, I received the following missive, confirming that, due to my long association with the bank and my pensioner status, bank charges on my credit cards are waived for life.
“Good day Mr BFD Philpott. Thank you for your support on our ABSA products. As gesture of goodwill thanking you for the years you have supported us and to apologise for the poor experience you have encountered with us of late.We have waived the monthly service fees on both your credit cards. Please do contact me if I can be of help related to any problem or questions related to the ABSA credit cards.
Kind regards
Teresa Coetzer,
Customer Care Officer,
Absa Barclays Shared Services Africa”.
This was a pleasant surprise, and due to the rapid and positive response, I shall, of course, remain with ABSA.
Bim Philpott
