Sir
President Jacob Zuma should have been candid with donors at the ANC fundraising event held in Pretoria on Friday evening.
He should have said that there were those in the ANC who never trusted him one iota to lead the nation with integrity. They knew the disaster that he was going to be for the party and for the country.
Those who broke away to form COPE had the full measure of Jacob Zuma. They knew he would discredit the party and bring shame on those who stayed in the party and supported him. They knew too well that he would trash the constitution and seek to advance his own cause and that of his family. His track record was enough to warn savy politicians to keep their distance from him in order to safeguard their reputation.
What did Zuma do since 2009? He has single-handedly brought South Africa to the brink of economic ruin. His firing of the highly respected and competent Nhlanhla Nene saw South Africa instantly lose between R160 – R200-billion. Before that he gifted himself a R200-million+ homestead at taxpayers’ expense. Zuma also did his damnedest to destroy the unflinching, courageous and outstanding Thuli Madonsela, Public Protector of our country. Under him parliament has become a circus and ministers like Nkosinathi Nhleko and Thulas Nxesi have become clowns. While the nation suffers, President Zuma has a hearty laugh.
He has brought the ANC to its knees. More and more people are deserting it, not because of what the ANC stood for in the past, but solely because of what he is doing as its head at the present. The people still strongly believe in what the ANC formerly stood for, they however no longer believe in him. The ANC indeed stood “to fight for the right of all the people of the country,” until he took over and put friends and supporters in high places to benefit themselves. He only loves those in the ANC who keep him in power. He doesn’t care about the people at large.
The history of the ANC until 2009 was glorious. After that its reputation took a steep dive. President Zuma has put the country up for sale. He openly tells businesspeople to put money into the ANC to see their own businesses grow. That is exactly what Truman Prince is preaching in Beaufort West. The tender process has been thoroughly corrupted.
South Africans should know that a vote for the Zuma led ANC is a vote for e-tolls, higher taxation, dismal service delivery, careerism, cadre deployment, a failing SAA with his friend Dudu Myeni in charge, a collapsing SAPO, a parliament mocked at by the world and the sovereign bond being reduced to junk status. He brings shame to those who continue to support him and to applaud him.
The best thing that South Africans can do is to listen to what President Mandela told a Cosatu gathering: “If the ANC does to you what the apartheid regime did, you must do to the ANC what you did to the National Party”.
South Africans should dump the ANC because it has nothing but pain and suffering to offer.
