The fact is no one knows what their destiny has in store but let’s face it; there are so many positive choices we can make that probably won’t eliminate the chance of risk and negativity but could surely lessen it! Investing in you does not necessarily have to be in monetary terms.
It’s about making sound choices now to create a quality future. For instance, you have insurance to cover you in the event of a dread disease and pay towards medical aid each month but since prevention is always better than cure do you live a healthy lifestyle?
You complain about feeling overweight and sluggish but do you have an exercise routine? Does your liquid intake include sufficient water or does it comprise of high carbonated, high caffeine and/or beverages high in sugar?
Do you eat highly processed foods or more raw foods of fresh fruit and vegetables? Is your cholesterol intake too high?
How do you manage your stress, with alcohol and smoking or in a positive manner? Do you make the time to engage in regular exercise, meditation and other stress alleviation activities?
You pay for insurance to cover your car but be honest, are you a reckless driver who every so often thinks you are above the law when it comes to road safety? Do you regularly service your vehicle and make the necessary checks to prevent damage?
You pay for household insurance but have you supplied your insurer with the necessary inventory for your content?
Do you regularly maintain your home? Have you reduced the risk of water and fire damage by ensuring the necessary checks are conducted?
You complain about the economy and how bleak the future seems but do you save to secure your future? Do you invest in upgrading your job and experience by means of furthering your studies, etc?
You support the Can/SA Relay but do you make an effort to reduce the possibility of cancer in your own life style like no smoking, using sunscreen, regular health screening? The point is; if we self-evaluate our everyday habits and choices there’s no doubt we will discover there’s always room for improvement to create a more quality standard of living.
Good luck for 2017 and aim to be the best version of yourself by making great and wonderful changes to your lifestyle!
