It is not really a vitamin but rather a term used to classify a group of bioflavonoids.
Bioflavonoids are ingredients that cannot be manufactured by the body and must be taken in through the diet. Vitamin P helps to fight off infection and acts as an antibiotic.
It should be taken together with Vitamin C as it also enhances the action of Vitamin C aiding in its absorption by the body.
A common symptom of a deficiency of Vitamin P is bruising easily or an increase in allergic reactions. Vitamin P is excellent for the healing of bruises, broken capillaries and varicose veins. Vitamin P is found in many skin care products and supplements.
It is mainly found in the rind, pulp, skin of fruits such as lemons, grapefruits, oranges, lime, grapes, cherries, plums, peaches, apricots, apples, berries, vegetables such as green and yellow peppers, tomatoes, onions, broccoli, parsley, also bee propolis, green tea, black tea and whole grains.
