Breast cancer: Knowledge is power

While prevention is better than cure, there is only so much one can do to reduce the risks but the risk of having the disease is never eradicated altogether

We have been surrounded by pretty, pink inclusions from online to our favourite water brands, all creating awareness for breast cancer this October. Breast cancer awareness is more about being conscious that this disease exists.

It is about arming ourselves with information and being pro-active. It is imperative to know exactly what breast cancer is, learn about the types of breast cancer, the importance of early detection, the process of diagnosis and treatment, as well as costs involved.
Spreading awareness is equally important as being aware.

We should encourage family and friends to lead a healthier lifestyle as well as have the necessary regular check-ups. If you are unable to contribute towards the charity; supporting product sales and events that contribute towards the cause is brilliant way to do your bit.

The top five cancers affecting woman are breast, cervical, colorectal, uterine and lung cancer with breast cancer being the number one on the list! While prevention is better than cure, there is only so much one can do to reduce the risks but the risk of having the disease is never eradicated altogether.

Therefore the above-mentioned notion of knowledge being power as well as early detection so vital. But so is having adequate cover if you do get breast or other types of cancers.
