Editor – Re: Service delivery beyond expectation (tax invoice statement).
My question to you, Mr Siyabonga Maphalala, is: Where in Ladysmith is this service delivery carried out, as I do not see it? Just filling up pot-holes with tar is not solving the problem, as the majority of roads in and around Ladysmith need to be re-tarred.
The roads were built approximately 40 years ago and are now overdue for an upgrade.
It was never an idea at that time that you would be in office, but it is now 24 years since you have been in office and look at the disgusting state of Ladysmith!
Putting up a poster of the mayor and asking drivers to drive safely in Ladysmith – are you serious?
The grass and trees are now growing on the road, and haven’t been cut for years. So where do we drive if the pedestrians are walking in the road?
Yes, obviously if the lights at Alfred Duma Local Municipality, as well as the air-conditioners, are left switched on 24/7, then Eskom does have a reason to implement load-shedding.
Attention also, Mr Siyabonga Maphalala: Your guys are wasting a lot of much-needed energy that is being used up unnecessarily at the soccer grounds and especially at the dump yard. Why do we need the dump yard to be lit up all night and day?
Mr Siyabonga Maphalala, please don’t be a dictator – rather take a drive all around Ladysmith and see for yourself why we ratepayers complain about this falling-down town.
Protesting staff at Alfred Duma Local Municipality can get their demands met.
So why can’t we, as ratepayers, stop all payments to Alfred Duma Local Municipality? Yes, other towns tried this and succeeded with the court’s permission.
We need to protest legally in order to get our demands met. Sending letters to the Ladysmith Gazette bears no fruit. It is time we, the community of Ladysmith, stood up for our rights.
