LETTER – ‘Close to the madding crowd?’

Most nights are interrupted with the throbbing beat of music coming from the direction of Sibongile

Sir
When I moved into Strathmore Park more than 10 years ago, I chose the area because it was a quiet suburb away from the maddening crowd – or so I thought.

Most nights are interrupted with the throbbing beat of music coming from the direction of Sibongile.

I have been informed by other irate residents that the cacophony is coming from one of the RDP house in Sibongile. The noise often continues into the wee hours of the morning. I know of people who have submitted complaints to the Municipality and to the Councillor of Ward 2 yet nothing has been done.

Besides the annoying sounds, there are cars doing “wheelies” in the distance and, of late, fireworks being set off every evening.
Dundee, generally, is a noisy town filled with impromptu parties in the park and planned events which are allowed to continue till 6am the following morning.

This town is becoming less and less attractive to the discerning person who seeks to live in a civilised and considerate society.
