With reference to the letter regarding residents taking back this town one has to wholeheartedly agree.

The recent opening of the sports hub by the Makhaya Ntini Foundation is a welcome initiative to encourage the young children in our communities to engage in something constructive.

However, we all need to come together and ensure that initiatives such as these succeed and bear fruit. Thank you to the various stakeholders who have made this possible.

We, as residents of this once beautiful town need to start taking the initiative to take back our town.

We should not allow ourselves to become despondent, but rather band together as varied as religious and civil societies to do something. We have seen ideas been bandied about on the Estcourt Facebook page … let us then get together and get things going … clean up various areas, plant trees or flowers and begin the recycling process as soon as we can.

We can and should no longer sit back and allow our residential and business areas to fall into disrepair.
Our ward councillors should also come on board … it is not enough for you to make issues political … this needs to be done for the benefit of ALL and not for votes … YOU NEED TO COME ON BOARD AS YOU ARE RESIDENTS TOO BEFORE BEING COUNCILLORS.

What are you doing at council meetings? Get moving too with ensuring doing your best for the town and not your political party, that all may share in a better town which can attract investment.
